Walk 7: A Ramble to Churchill Mill
3.5 miles / 5.7 km (approx 1¼ - 1½ hours)Map Walk Seven
This is a short walk through meadows and cereal fields. It crosses Bow Brook twice, firstly by Edward’s ford and again next to Churchill Mill. The mill is a pretty, stone-built, Grade 2 listed private dwelling next to the remains of a series of mill races supplied by the brook.
My favourite time of year to walk this route is Winter on a cold, crisp, clear day.

Turn R and follow the lane out of Lower Cowsden to the crossroads and cross Peopleton Road. Go down Edward’s Lane and cross Bow Brook over Edward’s Bridge.

After the gate go diagonally up the slope and through the gate in the top R corner to join a track. Go over Peopleton Road, along Holy Oak Farm drive, through the farmyard and over a stile into a field and head towards the school.
